Implementing an HIV/AIDS Workplace Policy Print E-mail

Overview
An HIV/AIDS policy is the cornerstone of the entire HIV/AIDS programme. Implementing an HIV/AIDS programme requires resources, both financial and human, and a comprehensive policy will protect this investment. After completing this training programme, participants will understand the importance of developing, implementing and monitoring an HIV/AIDS policy.

Training modules
The programme consists of the following modules:

  • HIV/AIDS - rights in the workplace
  • HIV testing in the workplace
  • Management of an employee with HIV
  • HIV/AIDS - the law and dispute resolution

Training outcomes
After completing this training programme, participants will be able to:

  • Describe legislation and national policies relating to HIV/AIDS in the workplace
  • Describe and analyse policies around HIV/AIDS in the workplace
  • Develop an appropriate HIV/AIDS policy for the workplace which is consistent with national requirements

Unit standard alignment
The programme is aligned to the following unit standard:

  • Implement policies regarding HIV/AIDS in the workplace (USID: 9224) (NQF Level: 5) (Credits: 4)

Duration of training
Three days
